Laptop battery life running Linux

I have an older Thinkpad Carbon x1. On Windows 10 I got about 6 to 7 hours of battery life. But so far with Elementary OS, I get only around 4 to 5 hours max.

Is anyone else running Linux on their laptop? Any tips on how you were able to optimize battery life? Are some distros more compatible or efficient with laptops? (I imagine they are all the same)

Try installing and configuring TLP. Arch Wiki as always has an amazing guide.

Also, have a look at The Linux PowerTOP tool.
